Dr Kumm is the CEO and Founder of Pr3vent Medical AI – a universal newborn eye screening company. For the last two decades Jochen has built computational tools in genomics and infectious disease. In the last three years, he has contributed to analysis and innovation in ROP and pediatric retina screening. Educated at Harvard University and Stanford University, he held leadership positions at the University of Washington Genome Center, the Human Genome Project, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Stanford, Veracyte, IBM Research and multiple start-ups. Formerly Director of Biomaths at the Stanford Genome Technology Center, Stanford University, and Head of Healthcare at IBM Research Africa, he is a serial entrepreneur, Stanford StartX founder and innovator focused on healthcare AI. He has deployed analytics in multiple health related contexts in academia and industry – including multiple genomics and health data repositories, privacy control, and APIs. Furthermore, Dr Kumm developed the IP and implementation of massively multiplexed diagnostics nucleic acid probe sets used globally by the US army. He is a leader in developing AI-based analytics in healthcare that provide clinically actionable information and predictive analytics. He is now focused on multi-modal contextual AIs tailored to augment and assist doctors and researchers.
