Ronald A. Schuchard is Senior Staff for Ophthalmic/Vision Medical devices at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He has been the lead reviewer for many types of innovative ophthalmic devices including Digital Health devices. He is also the Interim Executive Director for the Envision Research Institute, an institution dedicated to investigate the functional implications to vision loss, access to interventions, optimizing rehabilitation therapies, and developing accessibility technology. His research portfolio spanned the spectrum of vision research from studies of the fundamental mechanisms causing visual impairments to FDA multi-center clinical trials (including orphan indications).
